T is For Trance...and Jetpack

DJ Ayre here, and before I give you some Trance bangers to lose yourself in, I want to show you "the most advanced and innovative aircraft that man has ever dreamed about." Martin Jetpack, a revolutionary company based in New Zealand, recently announced that it has completed tests on a personal jetpack unit which will be ready for commercial sale as early as winter 2010.  The Jetpack does not need an FAA recognized license to fly, but Martin Jetpack promises to train each individual pilot.  These trainings will be held on campus at Flight School.

We ordered a full set for the staff at Flight School; join us in the clouds.

Gorillaz - On Melancholy Hill (AN21 & Max Vangeli Remix)
This track is one of my favorites off of the new Gorillaz album "Plastic Beach."  The Gorillaz have always been pioneers in lifted thought, and seeing their music transform into trance is another step away from the box.

Kaskade - Angel on my Shoulder (EDX's Belo Horizante At Night Remix)
Ever wonder what that one song is that Kaskade plays every show that still makes you forget how to speak no matter how much you hear it?  Well, here it is, Italian-Stallion EDX's Beautiful Horizon remix of Kaskade's Angel on my Shoulder.

Matrick - Sunshine (Club Mix)
Straight from Russia, MatricK dropped this banger for WMC 2010 in Miami.  This track has a heavy bassline perfect for a more edgy trance sound, which makes it one of the better tracks from WMC this year for me.

Dirty South - Phazing (Feat. Rudy) (Original Mix)
A huge hit from American born Dirty South.  This is uplifting trance-y house at its finest.  Tiesto made a damn fine remix of this track, but I'm feeling the original a bit more.  We're not going home, we're phazing, a million miles away.

Deadmau5 - Not Exactly 2010 (Extended Mix)
This track jump-started the behemoth that is the Mau5.  Off his debut album "R.andom A.lbum T.itle," this is from the golden age of Deadmau5 before he told the world how much he hates DJs and then snitched on Rusko, landing the mack daddy of dubstep in prison for a quick minute.

Space Odyssey

Today's selection from DJ Ayre features some quality material to enjoy during your travels to the clouds. We begin with arguably the best stop-motion film so far that travels throughout time and across quite a few uniquely structured landscapes, and continue with some of the best dubstep singles of the moment along with a future dubbanger from M.I.A. (Those who watch Entourage may recognize it)

Without further ado, a wall- and floor- painted three-dimensional stop-motion animation created by the street artist Blu illustrates the history of the universe since the big bang, with a particular focus on the evolution of life on Earth.

BIG BANG BIG BOOM - the new wall-painted animation by BLU from blu on Vimeo.

M.I.A. - Space Odyssey
A spacey (whod've guessed) protest produced by the dubstep pioneer Rusko (check out his website for a free download of his single "Da Cali Anthem") about the recent New York Times article "The 31 Places to Go in 2010" which named M.I.A.'s home country of Sri Lanka the number 1 place to visit this year, in spite of the aftermath of the violent civil war between the Tamil Tigers (the recently-defeated separatist group which M.I.A. vocally supported) and the Sri Lankan government.

The Pixies - Where is my Mind (Bassnectar Remix)
One of my favorite dubstep tracks, it's not as heavy as the other songs in this post, but it's clean in a way that's uplifting to both the dirtiest of dubsteppers (yes it's a word, now) and a more mainstream audience. Definitely a track to play when you reach cruising altitude in the sky.

DJ Fresh - Gold Dust (Flux Pavilion Remix)
I'm posting this one for all the people who are wondering which dubstep track every single artist played at Audiotistic this year, and I do mean every DJ.  It almost got old, but this track is Gold...Dust. Anyway, Flux Pavilion is one of this year's top up-and-coming producers/DJs, keep him in your sights as he blasts out of the UK.

Sub-Focus - Hold On (Feat. Amber Coffman) (Rusko Remix)
Rusko's remix of the Drum 'n' Bass artist Sub-Focus is massive.  It's one of the bigger hits this year, and for good reason.  It has a different vibe than other dubstep tracks because it retains several d'n'b elements to create a wicked blend of two heavy-hitting genres.

Bonus: DJ Ayre Minimix
Here's an uptempo Club-House minimix I recorded the other day live sans effects-unit and headphones, Enjoy.

A word from above

This is DJ Ayre, transmitting from Flight School, where you can get all the new tunes our Space Cadets spend hours a day crate digging to find and other unusual finds that intrigue the staff up at Flight School.

Scott Rhea's underwater photography series was inspired by his dreams during the floods of Katrina, and created otherworldly masterpieces that call to one's imagination. Rhea's work will be featured in upcoming show "Fashion is art" at the The Chapman in Los Angeles, Thursday, August 12th, 2010.

Sonic C - Stickin' (Original Mix)
The essential shuffle anthem of Summer 2010, this track is fire.  Now we wait and see who churns out the best remix.

Simian Mobile Disco - Audacity of Huge (Dada Life Guerrilla Fart #10)
A solid slammer from fan-favorite SMD.  Dada Life is a Swedish outfit that's poised to become amongst the best DJ groups in the world.  Seeing them open for Tiesto's Kaleidoscope tour Thanksgiving '09 was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Starkillers - Bitch Ass Trick (Alex Kidd Remix)
Alex Kidd is comin' up quick.  I did a set with him in May at Imagination Festival, and the Kidd brought the roof down.  Be sure to keep an eye on him, and enjoy his bass-heavy take on Starkiller's Bitch Ass Trick.
