Space Odyssey

Today's selection from DJ Ayre features some quality material to enjoy during your travels to the clouds. We begin with arguably the best stop-motion film so far that travels throughout time and across quite a few uniquely structured landscapes, and continue with some of the best dubstep singles of the moment along with a future dubbanger from M.I.A. (Those who watch Entourage may recognize it)

Without further ado, a wall- and floor- painted three-dimensional stop-motion animation created by the street artist Blu illustrates the history of the universe since the big bang, with a particular focus on the evolution of life on Earth.

M.I.A. - Space Odyssey
A spacey (whod've guessed) protest produced by the dubstep pioneer Rusko (check out his website for a free download of his single "Da Cali Anthem") about the recent New York Times article "The 31 Places to Go in 2010" which named M.I.A.'s home country of Sri Lanka the number 1 place to visit this year, in spite of the aftermath of the violent civil war between the Tamil Tigers (the recently-defeated separatist group which M.I.A. vocally supported) and the Sri Lankan government.

The Pixies - Where is my Mind (Bassnectar Remix)
One of my favorite dubstep tracks, it's not as heavy as the other songs in this post, but it's clean in a way that's uplifting to both the dirtiest of dubsteppers (yes it's a word, now) and a more mainstream audience. Definitely a track to play when you reach cruising altitude in the sky.

DJ Fresh - Gold Dust (Flux Pavilion Remix)
I'm posting this one for all the people who are wondering which dubstep track every single artist played at Audiotistic this year, and I do mean every DJ.  It almost got old, but this track is Gold...Dust. Anyway, Flux Pavilion is one of this year's top up-and-coming producers/DJs, keep him in your sights as he blasts out of the UK.

Sub-Focus - Hold On (Feat. Amber Coffman) (Rusko Remix)
Rusko's remix of the Drum 'n' Bass artist Sub-Focus is massive.  It's one of the bigger hits this year, and for good reason.  It has a different vibe than other dubstep tracks because it retains several d'n'b elements to create a wicked blend of two heavy-hitting genres.

Bonus: DJ Ayre Minimix
Here's an uptempo Club-House minimix I recorded the other day live sans effects-unit and headphones, Enjoy.
